Quick before I forget, because I will.

I have this habit of not keeping track of the (seemingly rare) times when things go right. Maybe still just a fraction short of chaos, but it still counts when these moments happen!

The last few weeks have been super hard to get these posts in, but I happen to be a very determined individual. A little looney from lack of sleep, a little bit of a red-headed temper, and a whole lot of mint mochas (I am addicted) - I make it happen when I can. (But hey, maybe we can ignore the "daily" part of the blog promise for now... Do me that solid and I will love you forever pleeeeeease.)

Still. Regardless. I had to tell you about these awesome things that happened.

My toddler T said "please" AND "thank you" completely unprompted! He is also starting to use his "ssss" sound which is helping soooooo much with understanding him. He is "talking" so much lately, and I am just so proud. He also learned to jump with 2 feet leaving the ground, and he kicked a ball! He put a shirt on by himself for the first time. He pointed at a smiling cartoon mushroom in a book and said "happy!" He also made his first friend at school.... Ugh. That makes me tear up. Go little guy, go.

My preschooler PJ asked his brother "how his day went"... that's never happened before. He is saying so many new phrases, and learning so much. Its truly unbelievable! He currently loves his piggy bank and is learning all the coins. PJ is also super into helping us cook at breakfast. This kid can make eggs so well! (Yes keyboard warriors. Always supervised - we are literally standing one inch from him and making sure he's safe and all the things.) He doesn't accept simple answers for things, and has a memory like a steel TRAP. If you say it - he will remember it. And he will hold you accountable for it. He also out of the blue asked "are you okay?" and came up and rubbed my back when I had a hard day. What a sweet little thing! (I try not to get worked up in front of the kids. Not that I want to teach them that hiding emotions is okay, but I just don't want them to think they did anything wrong, or then have them get upset... listen I said I try, OK!? My face without fail shows even the slightest thought or feeling that ever crosses my brain.) I am just so proud PJ is starting to recognize that other people have feelings and emotions just like he does!

Both of my babies are so freaking smart. And cute. And brave and loved and silly and so many other things. And I forget to soak up these moments way too often. I get so stressed out and sometimes honestly just try to get the day over with. But all 4 of us running full speed in field playing tag, jumping fully clothed into our little inflatable pool, playing chase around the kitchen island, impromptu trips for ice creams and splash pad, cleaning up sticks for bonfires and marshmallows in the back yard, little arms reaching up for hugs and tiny kisses on boo-boos, playing soccer at dusk, and singing "Let it Go" for the 456th time in the car. All these moments make it worth it. They just put the biggest smile in my heart.

So against all odds, sometimes we just do the damn thing. And we do it well.

xoxo

Madi
